Dundee Does Not Have One Shower-Pressure Problem
It would be misleading to say every Dundee flat has low water pressure. Two homes on the same street can perform differently because of the building height, internal stop valves, old supply pipes, boiler, cylinder and the pipe route inside the property. The useful local advice is simple: test the actual bathroom before choosing the shower.
Pressure and Flow Are Not the Same
Pressure is the force pushing water through the pipe. Flow is how much water reaches the outlet over time. A shower can show reasonable static pressure but still deliver poor flow when another tap is opened. For a practical check, measure flow at the proposed shower supply and repeat while another outlet is running. A plumber can investigate further if the result is weak or inconsistent.
Match the Shower to the Hot-Water System
A combi boiler heats mains water as it is used, so its output and the incoming flow matter. A stored hot-water system works differently and may use gravity, a pump or an unvented cylinder. Electric showers heat cold mains water inside the unit. Each setup has different limits. Choosing a shower before identifying the system is how oversized heads and disappointing performance end up together.
Older Pipework Can Restrict the Result
Narrow, corroded or poorly routed internal pipework can reduce flow. If old or unknown pipework is exposed during a refit, ask the plumber to identify it and explain the options rather than covering it back up.
Upper-Floor Flats Need a Real Test
Height can affect available pressure, but building arrangements vary too much for a postcode-based promise. Test at the property, ideally at the time of day the shower is normally used. Do Not Fix Low Flow With a Bigger Shower Head
A large rainfall head does not create more water. If the system cannot supply the required flow, the result may feel weaker and the temperature may become less stable. A smaller well-designed head, a suitable thermostatic valve or a different shower type may give a better everyday result. Pumps must be compatible with the water system and should be specified by a qualified installer.

Before buying, confirm the hot-water system, test flow, note how other outlets affect it, check the proposed pipe route and compare the manufacturer's minimum requirements with the measured result.
